With so much going on in our business and our life, it's easy to focus on the work in your business, and unintentionally gloss over intention, or even forget intention altogether.

As a small business owner, you likely started your business with the best of intentions, big plans, well-thought-out customer experiences, and a commitment to doing nothing but the best.

One day you wake up and notice you don't own your time and choices. You feel stuck and disconnected, working in your business, the one you chose to create. You are going through the motions and your business no longer excites you.

You realize your decisions aren't rooted in strategic thinking. Your decisions are not mindful, or aligned with your Purpose-Driven Mission or Vision. Did you even make the time to define those foundational statements?

You are not alone. It is more common than you think; a business owner is handed projects, an existing customer base, and next thing you know, 10 years have passed without working on the business. The scramble to get the work done, while also setting processes in place, and figuring things out ends up pushing off the foundational strategic work. As you grew your team to keep up with demand, you told yourself you would do the work when it was less busy.

Aloha. This is your friendly reminder: now is the time to pause and reconnect with your small business, and with yourself.

The Discover Your Intention in Hawai'i Retreat is a week-long retreat where all you need to do is show up for the work and experiences, everything else is taken care of for you: guided exercises, accommodations, nutritious and delicious food, activities, and more. You will have free time each day to walk the beach, take a dip in the ocean, chat with your new connections, hang out in the hammock, read on the lanai, lounge...you get the idea.

THIS RETREAT IN HAWAI'I IS A BUSINESS EXPENSE

Alexis Skigen Rago grew up in Hawai'i and quickly realized what a gift that was. Now, as a small business owner herself, she wants to share the beauty and the power of Hawai'i with you and nine other small business owners who are ready to bring more intention into your daily work. Every day, Alexis will lead the group in immersive-style workshops for a few hours to create awareness, mindfulness, and intention through various structured activities. We will explore and define Core Values, Purpose-Driven Mission, Vision, mindset activities, limiting beliefs, and empowering beliefs. In order to get the most out of this experience, come into this retreat with a willingness to be vulnerable. We will create a safe space for all of our participants to share, starting with a group call a week or so before the retreat.

In addition to workshops, activities will be curated purposefully to create opportunities for connections throughout the retreat. Daily activities will complement our curriculum and focus on volunteering, culture, history, and of course, nature. We will address our mind, body, and spirit as we explore the beautiful island of O'ahu, with activities in the ocean, beach, land, mountains, and air.

We will consume delicious (ono) foods to nourish our bodies and minds as we explore our purpose, emotions, fears, and dreams. We will have a personal chef dedicated to our health and wellness on-site, all week.

THE END GOAL IS DOING WHAT YOU LOVE WITH INTENTION AND CLARITY

By the end of this week-long retreat, you will feel renewed as a small business owner, connected to your business with clarity in direction and purpose, and intention in all of your decisions as you enjoy the healing magic of Hawai'i. You will also have incredible connections with your intentional 'ohana.

As a small business owner, you've worked hard every day. You have grown your business and seen success through referrals. You know your business can make a larger impact. This is your opportunity to pause, look at your business with intention, and take great strides to achieve your mission as you reconnect and fall in love with your business.

The interactive sessions during the WOYB Retreat provide opportunities for you to apply intention in your marketing and your business. You will learn to measure your business success by more than revenue. You will see how intention impacts your culture, your team, your clients, and you.

The Work On Your Business Retreat will help you get back to doing what YOU love, with intention and clarity.

YOUR

This retreat is about you and your small business. We are limiting the capacity to a maximum of 10 participants. A smaller group enables you to access an expert when you need, throughout the week, and also learn from, and contribute, to your peers. We’ll have a variety of sessions: expert-led, interactive workshops, breakouts, one-on-ones, Q&A, and individual work/reflection. We’ll also have some fun, enjoy delicious and healthy meals, and experience island activities as we get to know each other. There will be downtime to allow yourself time to relax and enjoy a true retreat.

BUSINESS

You have worked hard in your business, whether you’re two years in, or you are a seasoned pro with decades of entrepreneurial success, you know you have to invest time to work on your business. Two key areas we will address are intention in your business and intention in your marketing. Investing time in these areas will help your business grow, save resources, and see an improved marketing ROI. You'll also see a Ripple Effect in your culture, reduced turnover, employee morale, and efficiencies as you incorporate intention in your day-to-day work.

KAILUA, HI (THE ISLAND OF O'AHU)

The Discover Your Intention Retreat will be hosted in a beachfront villa and cottage steps away from Kailua Beach, one of the world's best beaches. The estate has 6 bedrooms and 5 full baths. We will be sharing bedrooms and bathrooms, with two people in each room. There is a large open-concept gathering space, as well as a private sprawling grass lawn between the home and the beach. There are also several lanai spaces (patio) and a roof deck. The beauty of the sunrise over the Mokes is just a few steps away, so you can Rise & Shine with Intention and watch it on the beach.

*Please note: there is no smoking allowed on the property.

MEALS

All meals and snacks will be freshly prepared and provided throughout the week. We are excited to have a health-minded chef preparing delicious and nutritious meals from local ingredients. While vegan and gluten-free meals are the chef's specialty as these allow nourishment for our bodies and minds, we are able to accommodate requests. If you have an allergy or religious restrictions, please let us know. We promise, you will not go hungry. We want to fuel your body and mind for an incredible week of breakthroughs.

MEET ANNETTE, OUR EAT WITH INTENTION CHEF

Annette Licitra is an educator, speaker, author, and founder of Passionette Palate. As a Wellness Chef and Holistic Health Coach focusing on digestive health and increasing energy, she empowers professionals by transforming their lives through life-giving foods, cleansing their bodies, her 7-week PALATE coaching course, and other holistic healing approaches so that they feel amazing and operate at their peak performance level. She’s passionate about creating a safe space and a strong nutritional foundation for clients as they explore foods and lifestyle choices sustainable for the long-term.

ACTIVITIES TO EMBODY INTENTION

Each day, after we have our workshop to discover intention, we will enjoy the beautiful island of O'ahu with activities to highlight the lessons from that day's workshop. We will incorporate the elements of air, water, land, mountains, beach, history, and culture. Plans include:

Learn photography as we enjoy a scenic tour and capture nature's beauty
Volunteer to work the land (Malama Ka 'Aina)
Ride Horses through the beautiful valley where many movies, including Jurassic Park, are filmed
Respect the ocean on a boat and explore the water snorkeling
Take in the views as we zipline
Learn about Hawaiian history
Experience culture at a luau with lei making
Enjoy the local flavors with a Hawaiian chocolate tour
Support local small businesses at a farmers market
Sun Salutation is even better with Yoga on the Beach
Sunrises are right outside our beach house on the east side of the island
We will be able to enjoy sunsets as well

It's important to take a break from your hard work. We'll also have time to walk the beach, relax in a hammock or lounge chair, or just hang out. The property provides many options to explore and find a spot to sit solo or hang with your new friends, including a rooftop, a hanging chair, two covered lanais, open areas inside, a sprawling lawn, and more. You deserve to relax and enjoy life in paradise.

THE CREATION AND EVOLUTION OF THE WOYB RETREAT

As a small business owner who wants other entrepreneurs to succeed, the idea for the Work On Your Business Retreat came about after Alexis went on a weekend retreat by herself in the Fall of 2019 to gain clarity in her business. The weekend wasn’t overly planned which allowed her to be in the moment and avoid burnout. While she did get some work done, she realized she needed more structure, goals, and specific outcomes in order for the time away to be more valuable.

In 2020, she invited other entrepreneurs to join her in a co-led retreat focused on improving marketing for each of their businesses.

In 2021, Alexis co-hosted her first WOYB Retreat where she guided entrepreneurs in developing a strategic marketing plan over a long weekend. It was intense, and the participants walked away with an incredible value that changed their businesses.

In 2022, Alexis hosted the second WOYB Retreat, and again, business owners gained clarity and direction over 3.5 days as they created their custom strategic marketing plan. One participant shared that by the end of the first full day, her expectations were already met, she found clarity and purpose, and anything remaining was a bonus. She enjoyed many bonuses including a framework to apply the strategies into a marketing tactic.

Alexis always had it in the back of her mind that it would be great if she could incorporate more of Hawai'i in her retreat. In 2023, Alexis decided it was time to make her dream a reality by hosting a retreat in Hawai'i. This time, the retreat wasn't going to focus on creating a strategic marketing plan. Hawai'i is a special place of healing, discovery, and beauty. It has a strong connection to nature and the natural elements, and it was only fitting that this retreat would focus on intention. Alexis spent many hours carefully curating this experience to align the workshops and guided work with the experiential activities to embody the lessons and process each of your discoveries. This is truly a unique approach that will change your business and your life as you discover your intention.
